Earlier this evening, I made an amazing discovery. The UK's cupro-nickel coins, or at least the new ones, now contain ferrous material. That means, they're magnetic.

The coin on the left, is an old 1989 2p coin, the one on the right, a new 2007 edition 2p coin
When did they change the materials that they put in the coins?
